The Institute for patients' rights & health education organized:

1. A seminar and a workshop on patient's rights directed to over 60 leaders of Polish patient groups. The event took place on April 11-12, a week before the European Day. At the seminar experts presented the following topics: patient's role and place in the health care system; patient's rights in Poland and other EU countries; the outlines of a draft law on patient's rights; the role of patient's rights ombudsman - in the current system and as envisaged in the draft law. We also included a presentation on European Patient's Rights Charter, as established by ACN and other European groups and distributed materials

The workshop was divided in three thematic groups: patient's rights in general, patient rights on psychiatric wards, specific problems and rights of cancer patients.

The aim of the seminar and the workshop was to educate on patient's rights and related issues among representatives of NGOs representing patients of various therapeutic groups, as we have observed a rather poor knowledge on this issue not only among general public, but even among the leaders of patient groups. It was also an occasion to promote the initiative of the European Patient's Rights Day among Polish patient organizations.

2. Promoted the reinforcement of the 14 rights included into the European Patient's Rights Charter. The translation of the Charter is accessible to Polish patients and patient organizations on the Institute's Website - www.prawapacjenta.eu

Initiate a new education-communication campaign "Patient's Rights - My Rights".
