In line with the topic of healthcare systems’ sustainability, addressed in the previous conferences of the European Patients‘ Rights Day, the twelfth edition will contribute to the current policy debate on how to achieve a more sustainable provision of care. The poor adherence to treatments has, in fact, significant implications for the expenditures of healthcare and it is estimated to increase costs of approximately €80 billion a year.

Memorandum of Understanding between Pain Alliance Europe and Active Citizenship Network signed

Last 21 of November 2017 in the Bruxelles office of Pain Alliance Europe,  Active Citizenship Network (ACN) and Pain Alliance Europe (PAE) have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the cooperation between the BMP Patient Centred Innovation Grant managed by PAE and the European Civic Prize on Chronic Pain managed by ACN. This agreement reinforce the already strong cooperation in the field on chronic pain between the two organizations and, first of all, allow to them to better merge their mentioned initiatives.

#MakeWorkWork for those affected by Neurological Disorders and Chronic Pain Conditions

Active Citizenship Network supports the Written Declaration, under Rule 136 of Parliament’s Rules of Procedure, on access to employment for those affected by neurological disorders and chronic pain conditions. The initiative is promoted by the European Federation of Neurological Associations (EFNA) and Pain Alliance Europe (PAE) with the aim to encourage research into and access to innovative treatments, promote prevention and self-management approaches, decrease stigma and work together to improve quality of life for people living with these disabling conditions.

4 March 2016 - Improving patients’ rights in the age of the Cross Border Healthcare Directive

Active Citizenship Network organized a webinar-conference on 4 March 2016 in Rome, on the topic of “Improving patients’ rights in the age of the Cross Border Healthcare Directive”. The event involved online and on-the-spot participation of national and international experts to debate the European Directive on patients’ rights in cross-border healthcare and the current state of its implementation throughout Europe.
On this occasion, the communication campaign “Patients’ rights have no borders” has been presented for the first time.
