European & National Medicines Regulatory Systems: it is time to increase patients’ involvement
Active Citizenship Network, promotes this multi-stakeholder event since 2007, and as its Director, I am so honored to have celebrated this relevant anniversary at the European Economic and Social Committee.
The reasons of our commitment in Cyprus
Active Citizenship Network, in partnership with civic societies and patient organizations, is committed to strengthen the protection of patients’ rights in Europe. At the same time, we strongly believe that empowered patients and their organisations are a resource and not a cost: for this reason, we have been pleased to cooperate at national level in Cyprus with the Universal Patients' Rights Association in the framework of the EU project “Patients’ Voice”, supported by EuropeAid Programme of the European Commission.
Active Citizenship Network grows in Eastern Europe
Strengthening synergies and forge alliances among civil society actors can help to better understand the dynamics and prospects of the EU - now showing all its cracks - and of Europe in general. From this perspective, Active Citizenship Network is pleased to announce its new partnerships with two organizations located in Eastern Europe.
Cittadinanzattiva awarded for its commitment in the field of consumer policy
The summer break has resulted in a prestigious award in the field of consumer policy for Cittadinanzattiva at national and European level, that is the election of its Director of European Affairs as a new full member of the European Consumer Consultative Group for the next three years.
Making the invisible visible on chronic pain
In the last few years, many initiatives – both Institutional and grass-root ones – have been focusing on the patients’ right to avoid unnecessary suffering and chronic pain. At EU level, the EU Parliamentary Interest Group “Brain, Mind, Pain” is working hard to strengthen awareness and spread knowledge of this phenomenon at institutional level. The MEP Interest Group “European Patients’ Rights & Cross-Border Healthcare” also devoted its most recent meeting to the topic of the degree of patient’s pain, which was related to the implementation of the EU Directive on cross-border healthcare.
