The fight against waste in health services at the center of work of the X European Patients' Rights Day
“Reducing waste and inefficiency in healthcare systems and increasing quality of patient care depends on collaboration… It requires active commitment from individual bodies, including Member States, European institutions, patients and health professionals”. The event has been co-hosted by the MEP David Borrelli, co-Chair of the Europe of Freedom and Direct Democracy Group and co-Founder of the MEPs Interest Group “European Patients’ Rights & Cross-Border Healthcare” and MEP Piernicola Pedicini, EFDD ENVI Committee Coordinator”. The European Collection of Good Practices against waste: the Report.
In the framework of the celebrations for the X European Patients’ Rights Day, Active Citizenship Network has carried out a research in order to gather good practices where we collected concrete examples of actions aimed to reducing waste and inefficiencies in healthcare experienced both in EU and non EU countries. From this research we were able to collect 22 Good Practices coming from 10 different countries.

"Patients’ rights have no borders…as well as risks!"
A debate on patients’ rights and potential risks on cross-border healthcare took place on 3 May 2016, on the occasion of the meeting hosted by the MEPs Interest Group “European Patients’ Rights & Cross-Border Healthcare”.

Launched in 14 EU Countries a communication campaign on cross-border healthcare
A European communication campaign on patients' rights in cross-border healthcare kicks off in 14 EU Member States. The initiative is promoted by Active Citizenship Network and it was officially presented to the EU Institutions on 3 May 2016 at the European Parliament in Brussels. Read more

May 23-24 - Brussels (Belgium): “Societal Impact of Pain” (SIP) 2016 “Time for action”
The 6th event of the Societal Impact of Pain (SIP) will address anyone involved in pain policy. Four are the topics for discussion: Pain as a quality indicator for health care; Chronic Pain: a disease or multi-morbidity?; the relevance of pain in cancer care and rehabilitation; pain, rehabilitation and reintegration of workers in the working force. The scientific framework of SIP platform is under the responsibility of the European Pain Federation EFIC. Cooperation partners for SIP 2016 are Active Citizenship Network and Pain Alliance Europe. During the SIP Symposium, Cittadinanzattiva-Tribunal for Patients' Rights will present a research conducted in Italian hospitals about their attention to the pain treatment. More information here |
May 31, June 1- Barcelona (Spain): ACN will take part to the EU Civil Dialogue organized by the EU Commission
The next meeting of the EU Civil Dialogue group, the Structured dialogue with civil society of the European Commission, will take place on Wednesday 1 June 2016 from 09.00 till 18.30 hrs in the context of our event entitled "European Citizenship in Challenging Times", that will be held in Barcelona from 31 May to 1 June 2016. |
May 31 - Pomezia (Italy) Info day "EU funding 2014-2020 and European sources of information"
ACN will be among the speakers of the next info day organized by the Europe Direct Roma. Later in the day we will be presented the themes of the European Union programs in the different sectors (environment, transport, energy, education, training and employment, research and technological development, the competitiveness of Small and Medium Enterprises). The day is intended for administrators and employees of local public administrations and all citizens who wish to be informed about how to participate in the EU funding.
