The ACN’ romanian partner Coalition of Patient Organizations with Chronic Diseases (COPAC), in collaboration with the University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Carol Davila” Bucharest and Active Citizenship Network, organized the international conference “Bridging the Confidence Gap: Empowering CEE Communities for Vaccination” in Bucharest at the Hotel Union Plaza, Bd. Unirii street, no. 47c, on May 25, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM (local time).

The event featured keynote speeches, expert panel discussions, and policy recommendations. In particular, the conference brought together experts from eight countries to discuss one of the most pressing public health challenges: vaccine hesitancy in Central and Eastern Europe, and to propose actionable strategies to improve vaccine confidence and uptake across the European region.

Global and regional public health professionals, representatives of authorities, academic institutions, medical communication, patient advocacy groups and civil society organizations analyzed the factors that influence trust in vaccination, the impact of misinformation, and effective communication solutions tailored to the local context.

About the causes of vaccine hesitancy, at the top of the list were inconsistent communication, misinformation spread through social networks, and declining trust in authorities.

The message is clear: vaccination saves lives, but increasing vaccination coverage requires cooperation, transparency, and real community involvement. About it, the ACN’ Director shown his presentation titled “Grassroots Mobilisation Leveraging Civil Society and Community Leadership to Bridge Gaps in Vaccine Coverage”.
