Special session on EU-funded projects

FACILITATE at work
The second General Assembly of FACILITATE, with ACN among the key partners, was held in December at the Université de Bordeaux, offering two impactful days of discussions and collaborative workshops. The event started with an engaging panel discussion on data typologies: what did Clinical Trial data mean for each stakeholder (patients, investigators, sponsors)? What could we actually do? What formats did we need? What should we create as new? These questions fostered an insightful discussion and paved the way for actionable steps in understanding and optimizing data within the clinical trial landscape. Then, participants delved into the FACILITATE Return of Data user journey. Actionable approaches were explored to enhance the data journey, building on initial interoperability and architecture design work. During the “Communication & Dissemination Plan 2024” session, the team strategized the Plan for 2024 to share the impact and progress of FACILITATE with a broader audience. As the General Assembly concluded, the commitment to communication, empowerment, and advancing clinical trials remained at the forefront. The focus extended beyond information to training, aiming to disclose clinical trials, explain the importance of data sharing to participants, and promote its role in advancing science. Stay tuned for more updates as FACILITATE continues its journey of knowledge-sharing and empowerment. Join our pool of stakeholders here.

NIGHTINGALE on the field
The NIGHTINGALE project conducted a mass casualty incident drill in Novara from 18 to 20 October 2023. The exercise aimed to put innovative technologies developed by NIGHTINGALE partners to the test in controlled but realistic conditions of mass casualty incidents, including such situations as terrorist attacks, building collapse, and transportation incidents.
A diverse group of volunteers, civil protection agencies, such as emergency medical services, fire brigades, and police, as well as civic volunteers, including members of Cittadinanzattiva -ACN, participated in the exercise. They tested the NIGHTINGALE tools and provided valuable feedback on how these technologies can enhance prehospital triage during mass casualty incidents. The technologies that were tested included emergency mobile applications for citizens, mobile applications for digital patient monitoring and tracking, incident management and command and control solutions, a next generation Public Safety Answering Point, a thermographic scanning system, and drones.
The event has been organised and hosted by the Centre for Research and Training in Disaster Medicine, Humanitarian Aid and Global Health, Università del Piemonte Orientale (Novara, Italy) and the Italian Red Cross Committee (Galliate, Novara).
As mass casualty incidents become more sudden and challenging, the integration of new technologies can offer solutions to strengthen collaboration between emergency response agencies and communities at the scene of an incident. This leads to a more efficient and effective emergency and disaster response, ultimately saving more lives.

PROPHET at work
The 2023 annual meeting of PROPHET took place at the Centro de Investigación Príncipe Felipe (CIPF) in Valencia, Spain. Project partners gathered to explore the progress of this groundbreaking initiative, expertly coordinated by Stefania Boccia from the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (UCSC). During the plenary session on the second day, partners concluded discussions on project advancements, emphasizing collaboration and shared insights. The morning session focused on mapping results in basic and transnational sciences within Personalised Prevention. The afternoon featured the PROPHET Stakeholder Sessions, where external participants joined onsite and online. As a member of the consortium, Cittadinanzattiva - Active Citizenship Network actively contributed to the event, representing the citizens' perspective. These interactive sessions facilitated fruitful discussions and valuable inputs, shaping the ongoing development of the PROPHET.EU project. We are excited to help advance the field of Personalised Prevention. If you wish to get involved, click here, and we will keep you informed about engagement activities, including public consultations, surveys, and more.

PROPHET - Dissemination of the EU survey about the barriers, challenges and enablers for the adoption of personalised prevention strategies
Every year 900,000 people die prematurely in the EU due to disease risk factors that can be prevented through a shift from the treatment of established diseases to a “person-centered” disease prevention and early diagnosis practice. Although prevention is nowadays a high priority at EU level, personalised preventive strategies are not as widely used as other personalised medicine approaches. To address this gap, as consortium member of PROPHET, we invite you to participate in a survey about the perceived barriers, challenges and enablers for the adoption of personalised prevention strategies in EU and beyond. You can access the survey here.

BioReCer Stakeholder Group: join us!
We are thrilled to share the success of the first annual stakeholders meeting for the Biological Resources Certifications Schemes (BioReCer) project that took place online on 13 November 2023. During this engaging event - promoted by ACN - stakeholders from the BioReCer Stakeholders Platform (BRSP) gained valuable insights into the results and ongoing developments of the project. The discussions included a deep dive into material flows of #biobased #waste #biomass and sustainability indicators for the respective value chains. BioReCer aims to assess and complement current certification schemes for biological resources in alignment with the new EU sustainability goals, enhancing bio-based circular systems (read more on these factsheets in different languages). If you're interested in becoming a stakeholder and contributing to these discussions, register here for the BioResources Stakeholders Platform (BRSP). If you missed this event but are eager to join future discussions and stay informed about upcoming events, we invite you to visit BioReCer website.

Interview with Daniela Quaggia, coordinator of BioReCer's stakeholders involvement process
BioReCer aims to ensure the environmental performance and traceability of biological waste feedstock used by the bio-based industries (forestry, agriculture, fisheries, waste-water), deploying guidelines to strengthen the current certification schemes. Daniela Quaggia from Cittadinanzattiva APS answered questions about why stakeholder involvement is indispensable for the success of BioReCer and why stakeholders profit from their participation in the project's stakeholders platform.
