Patients' Rights

Italy: Waiting lists and broken promises, increasingly long times: 468 days for an oncological visit, 1 Italian in 3 gives up treatment
According to the Annual Civic Health Report, presented on 22 October 2024 by Cittadinanzattiva at the Ministry of Health in Rome at the presence of the Italian Health Minister, waiting times are so long that access to treatment is almost impossible for almost one in three Italians. “The data show a suffering national health system and we must make efforts to turn the tide, with a path that sees the citizen at the centre and a team game with doctors, nurses and health workers”. Thus, the Minister of Health, Orazio Schillaci, accepting Cittadinanzattiva's appeal for a ‘stronger and fairer’ national health service.

Family caregivers in Italy: the manifesto-appeal promoted by CARER and Cittadinanzattiva
Presented in Rome on 15 October 2024 at the Chamber of Deputies of the Italian Parliament the manifesto-appeal ‘Caregiver: for an inclusive and social equity law’, promoted by CARER and Cittadinanzattiva. The Manifesto has already been signed by 16 municipalities and 88 among associations, professional organisations and trade unions. Read more (IT)

Cittadinanzattiva-ACN in EUPATI training to strengthen patient advocacy and involvement
Cittadinanzattiva-ACN Senior Manager Daniela Quaggia attended the final sessions and graduation event of the EUPATI Patient Expert Training Program in Madrid (21-24 October). This prestigious event provided valuable insights into patient advocacy and patient involvement in clinical trials. The knowledge gained from this training will be applied in future projects and activities, ensuring that the voice of citizens and patients is effectively represented. By learning from experts and engaging with peers, we work to be better equipped to defend patients' rights in healthcare decision-making and promote meaningful patient involvement in clinical studies. Read more.

#BioReCer at work in Italy
Fruitful days for the EU-funded BioReCer project in Milan, Italy, from 1 to 3 October, 2024. In particular, the regional stakeholders meeting addressed topics such as circularity indicators and the role of standardisation for biobased feedstocks and products. On this occasion, members of the European Consumers Union and the Latvian consumer organizations Talented Borders and Impact 2040 joined the meeting in presence, while representatives from Union of Working Consumers of Greece were connected remotely. First Civic Survey on Health Personnel in Italy. On the Front Line but in the Shadows: Behind the Scenes of the National Health Service
This publication highlights the main findings of the first civic survey on health personnel in Italy, carried out by the Italian NGO Cittadinanzattiva in collaboration with the FNOPI, FNO TSRM, and PSTRP Federations. A study that provides insight into how 10,000 workers, representing 20 different health professions live their professional condition. 25 - 27 November 2024 I Madrid (Spain): kick off meeting of the EU-funded "OH-FINE" project
Organic Farming Innovations Network Europe/Oh-Fine’s is a 48-month EU funded project that aims to empower farmers and smallholders in the EU through the definition, enhancement and transfer of competitive and efficient organic farming knowledge and alternatives that address farmers’ capacities, consumers’ needs and changes in the food market. As a consortium member - representing the point of view of citizen-consumers - Cittadinanzattiva-Active Citizenship Network will participate in the kick-off meeting of the project, planned for 25-27 November in Madrid.
