Making Patients voice matter: the role of value added medicines
EU workshop co-organized by Medicines for Europe and Active Citizenship Network
On November 20th, 2018, in line with their increasing cooperation in the field of patients' rights, Cittadinanzattiva Onlus, through its international branch the Active Citizenship Network, and Medicine and for Europe, through its Value Added Medicines Group, co-organized an European workshop in Brussels on value added medicines. Starting from the Patients’ Right of Access, the Patients’ Right to Innovation and the Patients’ Right to Personalized Treatment, the initiative provided a selected number of leaders of patients’ organizations and advocacy groups across Europe with an updated overview about value added medicines and facilitated an exchange of views on key policy developments linked to them. EXTENDED DEADLINE!!
European Civic Prize on Chronic Pain Collecting Good Practices Second edition 2018-2019
The Application period for the second edition of the bi- annual research-project at the European level “EU Civic Prize on Chronic Pain - Collection of good practices” has been EXTENDED! You can enter your good practice by completing an on-line form. LINK TO FORM HERE! The award is open to any healthcare stakeholder: patients’ associations, health professionals, private and public hospitals, universities, etc. Your project will be considered for a public European celebration when the prizes are awarded and will represent the recognition of ongoing excellence. This the second of a series of prizes –awarded every two years – celebrating progress in the treatment and manage of chronic pain.
Closing date for receiving your submission is 30 April 2019. Read more |

1) Be Educated and Empowered Patient (BEEP) Program.

Survey launch: Chronic Pain and Stigma
ACN, member of the Pain Alliance Europe, a pan-European umbrella organisation representing chronic pain patients associations, is glad to share the new survey to ask patients about their pain experience as reflected by society. "Pain and Stigma" is meant to raise awareness of the psychological burden of stigma on pain patients. Check this link to choose your language and take the survey! |
Promoting patients’ rights: signed new partners agreements!
During 2018 ACN has expanded and consolidated its network by signing agreements of collaboration with:
GAfPA-Global Alliance for Patient Access in order to cooperate with EfPA, the newborn EU branch of GAfPA. The Global Alliance for Patient Access brings together physicians and patient advocates from across the globe to advocate for policies that protect patients’ access to advanced medicine.
ENFA-European Network of Fibromyalgia Associations with the aim to strengthen cooperation in the field of chronic pain.
WFIP – World Federation of Incontinent Patients to better advocate for patients affected by incontinence and pelvic pain.

Active for Young Professionals: signed two agreements over the 2018
In order to strengthen its multi annual programme called “ Active for Young Professionals”, whose main targets are university students and graduates, Cittadinanzattiva-Active Citizenship Network is glad to announce two agreements signed over the 2018.
At the beginning of the year, has been renewed, for another 3 years, the agreement with John Cabot University regarding internships. John Cabot University is an American institution in the heart of Rome with students coming from 60 different countries.
Last May, it was signed the first agreement between Cittadinanzattiva-Active Citizenship Network and IES Abroad Italy Foundation with the aim to host young American students for a “Study Abroad with Part-Time Internship” experiences in the field of EU Affairs.

Cittadinanzattiva-Active Citizenship Network in the Council of Presidency of the European Movement –in Italy
Last November 16th, in occasion of the General Assembly of the Italian European Movement, the head of the European policies of Cittadinanzattiva and Director of Active Citizenship Network Mariano Votta was nominated as a new member of the Council of Presidency, of which they belong, among the others, members of the Italian and EU Parliament. The European Movement has a long tradition in representing Italian subjects and interests in support of the European integration process and the promotion of information and awareness campaigns on European Union issues. 10-15 January 2019, Paris (France): Active Citizenship Network in France for the EU project “PolArt Circle”
How to stimulate greater involvement among people in building their societies and to increase a more active citizens' approach? Also to answer to these questions, Active Citizenship Network will participate next January in the meeting hosted by “La trasplanisphere, European artistic company” in Paris in the framework of the European project “ Polart Circle-Moocs to explore political topics through performing arts ” supported by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.
Polart Circle initiates a partner’s platform at the European scale, associating art companies, scholars, universities, civil society organisations and youth integration organisations.
Activities will gather artist-educators, emerging artists, experts and citizens interested in the relationship between art and politics. Led on a three-year period (2016-2019), the activities consist in workshops, researches, artist residencies, production of Moocs and organization of events. Read more

4th February 2019, Brussels (Belgium), Patients’Safety - European training seminar
Active Citizenship Network will organize an European training seminar on the theme of patients‘ safety & Healthcare-associated infections (HAIs), opened to a selected number (at least 20) leader of patients’ association and advocacy group coming from 8 EU Member States plus an Extra EU Member State. The initiative could improve their knowledge about: public and private engagement on the topic; the role of innovation to improve; case histories; new strategies to advocate in this field of action etc. Read more |
5 February 2019 Brussels (Belgium), Patients’ Safety - Event at EU Parliament
Active Citizenship Network will realize a multi stakeholder event at EU Parliament, immediately after the European training seminar of the 4th of February, bringing the discussion on the theme of patients‘ safety & Healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) at institutional level starting from a patient & citizens perspective.
