WHO Launches Patient Safety Rights Charter
On April 18, 2024, during the XVIII edition of the European Patients’ Rights Day, WHO launched a Patient Safety Rights Charter at the Global Ministerial Summit on Patient Safety. The Charter is a crucial tool intended to facilitate the implementation of the Global Patient Safety Action Plan 2021–2030. It aims to delineate patients' rights concerning safety and advocates for the universal observance of these rights, as defined by international human rights standards, ensuring their application for all individuals, worldwide, at all times. On behalf of the Horizon Europe project PROPHET, in wich Cittadinanzattiva-ACN is partner, we invite you to our Stakeholder Session workshop on 1 October 2024, from 13.30 to 17.30 in Stockholm or online.
PROPHET aims to design a Strategic Research Innovation Agenda (SRIA) for adopting Personalized Prevention approaches in EU health systems. This session will gather inputs from external stakeholders on the first draft of this Strategic Agenda. The workshop includes group discussions and presentations. 2 October 2024| Milan (Italy) & online: BioReCer Stakeholder meeting: Save the Date and register!
BioReCer, in wich ACN is partner, is pleased to invite you, consumers associations, autorities, industries etc.. to the Italian Stakeholder Meeting, following the success of the Swedish event in June 2024. This event will feature an interactive session on standardization requirements in the circular economy and a second session on the mobile version of the BioreCer ICT-Tool, which enables stakeholders to effectively manage bio-resources. 14 October 2024 | Brussels (Belgium): ACN host a in person discussion on Long COVID and Post-Pandemic health challenges
COVID-19 has had a major economic, health and social impact across the countries of the WHO European Region, affecting hundreds of millions of people. Although the acute phase of the pandemic has been overcome, COVID-19 has left its burden on health systems; high rates of burnout and COVID-19-related illnesses among health care workers have caused workforce dropouts, exacerbating staff shortages, increasing waiting times for patients to access services, and requiring health services to treat those who experience persistent symptoms after acute infection. These mid- and long-term disabling symptoms are collectively known as the post COVID-19 condition (PCC) or, commonly, long COVID. One year after the end of the pandemic, prevention, immunization and treatment, along with adequate information, remain imperative to continue fighting COVID-19 infections, especially when they threaten the most fragile populations.
On the topic, thanks to the valuable collaboration of independent experts, Active Citizenship Network is organizing in Brussels, on 14 October 2024, a full day of discussion - by invitation only and with limited number of participants - addressed to leaders of civic and patient associations interested in becoming even more engaged in the contexts in which they already work. 15 October 2024 | Brussels (Belgium): EU Workshop on Life-Course Immunization and Vaccine-Preventable Respiratory Diseases
Respiratory diseases are a significant health challenge worldwide, contributing to substantial hospitalizations and treatment costs. Preventive vaccinations, such as those against influenza, pneumococcal pneumonia, and COVID-19, are key to mitigating these diseases. Vaccination remains the most effective form of protection and is essential for building resilience against future pandemics. Expanding vaccination programs and developing a life-course vaccination strategy for adults are crucial steps forward.
To address this, Active Citizenship Network is organizing an exclusive, invitation-only full-day workshop – “Vaccination Informal Platform (V.I.P.) for Life-Course Immunization Promotion”- for leaders of civic and patient associations on October 15, 2024, in Brussels. This event aims to intensify efforts in promoting vaccinations for vaccine-preventable respiratory diseases (VPRDs).
This workshop is part of the European project #VaccinAction2024, continuing the efforts of previous years and supporting our commitment to vaccination policies at both the national and EU levels. To know more, please click here
