14 October 2024 | Brussels (Belgium): Empowering & mobilizing PAGs on COVID-19 (and long COVID), Prevention, immunization & treatments
One year after the end of the pandemic, prevention, immunization and treatment, along with adequate information, remain imperative to continue fighting COVID-19 infections, especially when they threaten the most fragile populations. On the topic, thanks to the valuable collaboration of independent experts, Active Citizenship Network is organizing a full day of discussion, addressed to civic and patient association leaders interested in getting even more involved in the contexts in which they already work. 15 October 2024 | Brussels (Belgium): EU Workshop on Life-Course Immunization and Vaccine-Preventable Respiratory Diseases
Respiratory diseases are a significant global health challenge, contributing to substantial hospitalizations and treatment costs. To address this issue, Active Citizenship Network is organizing an exclusive, full-day workshop – “Vaccination Informal Platform (V.I.P.) for Life-Course Immunization Promotion” - for leaders of civic and patient associations on 15 October 2024, in Brussels. 18 September 2024 | Meeting of the Steering Group on Influenza Vaccination
As a member of the Steering Group, ACN will participate in the meeting of the group of academics, scientists, healthcare workers and civil society, advocating for increased flu vaccine uptake in Europe. Recently, the Steering Group on Influenza Vaccination published its Joint Statement on the Council Conclusions on the Future of the European Health Union: A Europe That Cares, Prepares, and Protects. 18-20 September 2024 | Valencia (Spain): 20th EuGMS Congress - "From Healthy Ageing to Complex Needs in Older Adults"
On the occasion of the European Geriatric Medicine Society (EUGMS) annual congress, the Director of Active Citizenship Network has been invited to participate in the panel of the session “Impact and strengths of coalition partnerships to increase vaccination coverage rates”, organized by The European Scientific Working Group on Influenza (ESWI) together with the EUGMS. 24 September 2024 | Brussels (Belgium): “Informing National Adult Immunization Strategies and Action”
Invited by the International Federation on Ageing (IFA), ACN’s Director will participate in the EU workshop. The initiative aims to leverage the work of experts, organizations and governments at the national level to develop a targeted approach to immunization policy, taking into account each country's specific context, policies, programmes and attitudes towards immunisation.
This in-person meeting follows the
virtual meeting on 20 June 2024, which mobilized knowledge among European experts to raise public awareness of current adult immunisation initiatives in France and Germany. Stay tuned to the IFA’s website to see post-workshop materials and updates!

30 September 2024 | Savona (Italy) & online: full scale exercise to test NIGHTINGALE’s tools, watch the video!
From 30 September to 7 October, the EU funded NIGHTINGALE project team will meet in Savona, Italy, to test the new integrated toolkit for pre-hospital life support and triage that we have developed for challenging disasters and major emergencies. This second large-scale exercise will bring together emergency services, civic volunteers (also from Cittadinanzattiva-ACN) and 23 research and industry organisations from 11 countries. 1 October 2024 | Stockholm (Sweden) & online: Invitation to the PROPHET Stakeholder Session Workshop
On behalf of the Horizon Europe PROPHET project, in which Cittadinanzattiva-ACN is officially involved, we invite you to our Stakeholder Session workshop on 1 October 2024, from 13:30 to 17:30 in Stockholm or online. 2 October 2024| Milan (Italy) & online: BioReCer Stakeholder meeting: Save the Date and register!
The consortium of the Horizon Europe BioReCer project, in which Cittadinanzattiva-ACN is officially involved, is pleased to invite consumer associations, autorities, industries and experts, to the Italian Stakeholder Meeting, following the successful Swedish event in June 2024. This event will feature an interactive session on standardization requirements in the circular economy and a second session on the mobile version of the BioreCer ICT-Tool, which enables stakeholders to effectively manage bio-resources. 8 October 2024 | Brussels (Belgium): HERA Civil Society Forum meeting
As an official member of the Civil Society Forum, Cittadinanzattiva-Active Citizenship Network has been invited by DG HERA to participate in the annual meeting, initially scheduled for September. On the agenda, the presentation & discussion of HERA’s priorities for 2025 and the clinical trials coordination mechanism. Read more about the programme and minutes of the previous meeting.

9 October 2024 | Ancona (Italy): The G7 in Italy: Shifting the narrative on better health across the life course to maximise the longevity dividend
The Director of ACN has been invited by the International Longevity Centre (ILC-UK) – ACN’s partner in the UK - to participate in an exclusive high-level global forum, alongside the G7 Health Ministers’ Meeting. For the occasion, the organisers will outline how G7 nations can maximise the economic benefits of living longer and ensure governments invest in preventive health. 15 October 2024 | Hungary: “Lifelong immunisation and pharmaceutical immunisation” conference
Invited by the Association of Innovative Pharmaceutical Manufacturers of Hungary (AIPM) and Vaccines Europe, Active Citizenship Network will participate in the joint international conference on vaccines, focusing on lifelong immunisation and pharmaceutical immunisation. The Director of ACN will participate in the roundtable discussion on life-long immunization together with other distinguished professionals, following his keynote speech entitled “Active citizens in Europe: 10 tools to advocate for vaccination”. 16 October 2024 | Brussels (Belgium): “Elevating the European Migraine Action Plan in the new EU policy mandate”
Building on the valuable insights and contributions of the participating PAGs and third-party signatories in last year’s edition (realized on 8 of Nov. also with the involvement of ACN), this follow-up workshop aims to continue collaborative efforts to tackle migraine across the EU. On this occasion, the Action Plan – realized also with the contribution of Active Citizenship Network, will be discussed in order to explore opportunities stemming from the new EU political mandate and the new configuration of the European Parliament. The Director of ACN has been invited to the workshop. 16 October 2024 | European Parliament, Brussels (Belgium): “Navigating endemic COVID: Strategies for sustained preparedness and protection in the EU”
In line with our commitment in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic and its consequences, Active Citizenship Network was invited to the roundtable discussion, hosted by the Member of the European Parliament (MEP) Vytenis Andriukaitis (S&D) and organized with the support of the COVID Transition Initiative (CTI), an informal, independent, multi-stakeholder group that brings together leading experts, patient advocates and policy makers. 16 October 2024 | Brussels (Belgium): “SIP Stakeholder Forum”
In coherence with our long-lasting commitment on chronic pain, and our involvement in the "Societal Impact of Pain" (SIP), Active Citizenship Network has been invited to the annual SIP Stakeholder Forum. This year it will focus on the new EU Health Policy Agenda, analysing and discussing policy priorities for 2025. To know more about the past edition of the Forum, click here.

17 - 18 October 2024 | Prague (Czech Republic): “COLLABORATE Global Summit”
Also this year, the Director of ACN was invited to the annual COLLABORATE Rare Disease Multistakeholder Summit, a unique initiative that brings together patients, patient advocacy groups (PAGs), caregivers, healthcare professionals (HCPs) and policy experts to discuss how to drive change in adult-onset rare diseases.
