EU 1000 Day Act”: the Cittadinanzattiva-ACN proposal for the European Child Guarantee
Cittadinanzattiva has submitted its contribution to the European Commission's public consultation on strengthening the European Child Guarantee (ECG). Our proposal focuses on integrating the ECG with an "EU 1000 Day Act", urging Member States to provide specific protections during the critical first 1.000 days of life. By advocating for guaranteed access to healthcare (i.e. including RSV maternal vaccination), education, and nutrition, Cittadinanzattiva aims to turn this “soft law” into a powerful tool for social inclusion, ensuring that no child -especially those in vulnerable conditions - is left behind in the EU. 1000 Good Days” campaign launched at the Italian Senate
In Italy, Cittadinanzattiva has launched the “1000 Good Days” campaign at the Italian Senate to protect early childhood and reduce regional healthcare inequalities. Backed by a wide Board, the initiative introduces a civic platform with a free digital tool, local protection desks, training workshops, and informal meetings. At the EU level, Cittadinanzattiva-ACN proposed an “EU First 1000 Days Act” to turn health, nutrition, and education recommendations into enforceable rights across Member States. Read more

Patients' Rights

Personalised prevention: have a look at the 20th European Patients' Rights Day video 
Less than 4% of Europe’s health budget goes to prevention. To fight this, Active Citizenship Network (ACN) released a video on the 20th European Patients' Rights Day at the EU Parliament. ACN highlights the shift to personalised prevention tailored to genetic and lifestyle risks. The video features the EU PROPHET project and MEP Benifei, stressing that advanced tech needs public trust, data safety, and political coordination. Prevention is a vital investment. co-OPERATOR at work in Portugal
All members of the consortium - including Cittadinanzattiva-ACN - attended to the 5th transnational meeting of the EU-funded project co-OPERATOR. Hosted by the Directorate of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, a central service of the Portuguese Ministry of Health, the meeting involved analysing the progress of ongoing activities and discussing various aspects of the project, including dissemination and sustainability strategies, research, policy considerations, and implementation areas. Italy: The right to health and the right to information for vulnerable target groups
In Italy, Cittadinanzattiva continues its commitment to social justice with the project focused on vulnerable women, including detained and migrant women. The initiative aims to overcome barriers to healthcare information, specifically targeting maternal-fetal infections. Key activities include holding local information meetings, conducting health needs assessments, and distributing a multilingual informative guide translated into six different languages (Italian, English, French, Spanish, Romanian, Arabic). CIRCONOMY at work in Italy
As a consortium member, Cittadinanzattiva is excited to announce the official launch of the new Horizon Europe project CIRCONOMY. The kick-off meeting has been organized in Rome at Università degli Studi di Roma UnitelmaSapienza. Over two inspiring days, the 17 project partners came together in person for the first time to shape the roadmap of the next three years and achieve an ambitious goal: to accelerate Europe’s transition towards a sustainable circular economy by developing a harmonised and operational framework of micro-level circular economy indicators. The Young Consumers' Manifesto is born: students rewarded in the EU-funded project CoRe
667 students between 12 and 16 years old, from 35 classes of 16 schools distributed across 7 Italian regions, participated in the European project "Consumer (Re)generation – CoRe", promoted and coordinated by Cittadinanzattiva. Through a training pathway on consumers' rights, the students were involved in a contest of ideas that led to the awarding of the best creative messages, and above all, to the drafting of the Young Consumers' Manifesto. The RESILIAGE EU project launches RECORE
The EU-funded project RESILIAGE concludes with the launch of RECORE, an open digital platform to manage environmental crises. It provides monitoring tools, civic empowerment resources, and replication guidelines. Cittadinanzattiva, project’s active partner, will use these tools on the ground to strengthen citizen participation in risk management, promoting a shared collaborative security and an inclusive governance for a resilient Europe. Integrating immunisation into the EU cardiovascular strategy: a civic and patient perspective towards an EU respiratory health plan
A new perspective article authored by the Director of ACN together with several leaders of PAGs has been published in the Journal of Cardiology & Current Research. The paper addresses the policy gap in the draft EU CVD strategy regarding adult vaccination. It calls for dismantling governance silos and building a comprehensive EU Respiratory Health Plan to protect high-risk cardiovascular patients and strengthen healthcare system resilience across Member States. End-of-life care and the social contract: A European reckoning?
A new article in SSM - Health Systems highlights that end-of-life (EOL) care across Europe remains unequal, overly medicalised, and post-pandemic access gaps are widening. The Deputy General Secretary of Cittadinanzattiva co-authored the piece, framing EOL care as a stress test for the social contract. Cittadinanzattiva-ACN contributed to the analysis, emphasizing the urgency of citizen engagement, equity, and solidarity in European public health policies. Dowloand the new publication.

15 - 16 July 2026 │ Webinar │ 6th Global Summit on Public Health
Active Citizenship Network will participate in the 6th Global Summit on Public Health. This international virtual conference gathers experts to discuss health advancements and innovative solutions for global communities. The Director of ACN will participate as a speaker, contributing to the debate on the promotion of healthier communities on respiratory related issues, and the protection of citizens' rights in public health policy on a global stage. 27 - 28 July 2026 │ Paris (France) │ "20th World Congress on Nursing & Health Care: Current Challenges and Innovations in Nursing and Healthcare"
The ACN Director will participate in the 20th World Congress on Nursing & Health Care with a presentation titled “From the first Civic Survey on health personnel in Italy to the EU Call to Action to the European Commission to urgently address the health workforce crisis”. Dedicated to "Current Challenges and Innovations in Nursing and Healthcare", the event brings together researchers, educators, and healthcare leaders. Read more

17-18 August 2026 | Orlando (USA) | 2nd International Conference on Infectious Diseases & Immunology
The Director of ACN has been officially confirmed as a Keynote Speaker for the prestigious scientific program in Orlando, delivering a presentation titled: “Grassroots Mobilisation across Europe: Leveraging Civil Society and Community Leadership to Bridge Gaps in Vaccine Coverage”. This contribution aims to share the European experience of civic engagement and community leadership as essential tools to overcome immunization barriers on a global stage. Read more

14-15 September 2026 | London (UK) | 3rd European Cancer and Oncology Congress
The Director of ACN has been invited to speak at this congress focusing on precision oncology and cancer research. His presentation, "Refaming Access to Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMPs) in Europe: A Patient-Centered Call to Action for Policy and Systemic Reform", will highlight recent Italian updates. Cittadinanzattiva-ACN will emphasize its strong commitment to the matter of ATMPs at national and European levels. Read more

The Director of Active Citizenship Network has been invited to speak at the Global Public Health and Epidemiology Congress (G-PHEC 2026), which is scheduled to take place in London in August. 22 - 24 September 2026 │ Dublin (Ireland) │ OH-FINE - Irish Cross Visit and General Assembly
As a consortium member, Cittadinanzattiva-ACN will participate in the OH-FINE project event in Ireland in the second half of September. In particular, on Tuesday 22nd, Cittadinanzattiva-ACN will take part in the General Assembly presenting the communication campaing “From Organic Innovation to Consumer Trust: the OH-FINE journey”, realized as a follow-up of the initiative in Rome with the direct involvement of 15 consumer associations from 12 Member States. 24 – 26 September 2026 │ Prague (Czech Republic) │ 2nd Annual Global Summit on Public Health and Healthcare Systems (AGSPHHCS2026)
The Director of ACN will participate as a speaker at AGSPHHCS2026 in Prague. The Director will present a citizen and patient perspective titled “A Broader Narrative on Respiratory Diseases: A Citizens' and Patients' Perspective Towards the Development of an EU Respiratory Health Plan”. The abstract was selected by the Scientific Committee, highlighting Cittadinanzattiva-ACN's dedication to civic advocacy and vaccine-preventable respiratory disease public policies. Read more

29 September 2026 │ Webinar │ GUIDE-AI Project: Informative Meeting for Italian PAGs
Cittadinanzattiva-ACN invites Italian PAGS to an online meeting on 29 September at 17:00 about the European project GUIDE-AI. To participate register HERE
The new IMI project uses AI to create digital "guideline navigators" to support doctors with chronic disease therapies and provide patients with accessible explanations. As a consortium member, Cittadinanzattiva-ACN aims to engage patients’ associations to gather feedback and build the tool around real patient needs. Experts from the University of Pavia will explain the opportunities for active involvement. Read more
