Cittadinanzattiva-ACN is actively working on a ambitious EU-funded project: GUIDE-AI, the new Innovative Health Initiative - European Union initiative.

For individuals suffering from chronic diseases, such as heart failure, COPD, asthma, or chronic kidney disease, receiving the best care means following therapies based on the most recent medical evidence and guidelines. However, these guidelines are often complex and long documents, making it increasingly difficult for doctors to remain constantly updated.

The GUIDE-AI project aims to overcome this obstacle by using new Artificial Intelligence technologies to create digital "guideline navigators". This tool will support doctors in prescribing the most appropriate and updated pharmacological therapy in real time. Crucially, it will also provide patients with simple, accessible explanations regarding why a specific treatment was chosen.

To ensure this tool is truly useful, comprehensible, and aligned with the real needs of patients, Cittadinanzattiva-ACN believes it cannot be designed without their voice. Therefore, the concrete involvement of patient associations is essential.

The objective of the webinar is to present the project and the opportunities for engagement not only to associations directly linked to the diseases addressed by the project, but to all interested organizations. This will help engage the targeted associations, include more organizations to gather diverse viewpoints —since the tool will potentially work for all diseases— and inform about the European-level work carried out by Cittadinanzattiva-ACN.

As a consortium member, Cittadinanzattiva-ACN will host an initial online informative meeting on 29 September at 17:00, lasting about one hour. During the meeting, a representative from the University of Pavia—the institution leading the technical development of the "navigators"—will explain how the project works and the opportunities for active involvement. The experience and practical feedback of the associations will be decisive in mapping current barriers, simplifying materials, and ensuring that the solutions developed authentically reflect patient preferences and values.
