On 27–28 June 2025, Cittadinanzattiva APS gathered its national bodies and delegates from all over Italy in Rome for its VIII National Congress—an important milestone to define the organisation’s priorities for the next term (2025–2029). The Congress was an opportunity to reflect on increasingly complex social challenges, renew its governance, and strongly reaffirm a vision based on the protection of inviolable rights: those fundamental individual and collective rights that no crisis can suspend and no emergency can sacrifice.
At the end of the Congress, Anna Lisa Mandorino and Anna Rita Cossowere confirmed as Secretary General and National President of Cittadinanzattiva, respectively. The panel of speakers also included representatives of European institutions. Click here to listen to the contributions of MEPs Brando Benifei (S&D) and Marco Tarquinio (S&D).

Just after the Congress, the Board of Cittadinanzattiva appointed:
- Francesca Moccia, Deputy Secretary General
- Adriana Bizzarri Responsible for School policies at the national level;
- Valeria Fava Responsible for Health policies at the national level;
- Laura Liberto Responsible for Justice policies at the national level;
- Tiziana Toto Responsible for Consumer policies at the national level;
- Mariano Votta Responsible for European policies and Director of Active Citizenship Network.
For all of them is a confirmation. The confirmation of the management is the best guarantee to ensure continuity, in innovation, to what has been achieved so far. (To know more click here).
Saddenly, these days Cittadinanzattiva mourns the passing of its past President, prof. Giuseppe Cotturri, who dedicated his life as a scholar and activist to betting on the reforming force of active citizenship, and to whom Italy owes - in fact - the drafting of the last paragraph of Article 118 of the Italian Constitution: the article 118 recognizes the autonomous initiative of citizens, individuals and associates, for carrying out activities of common interest and, based on the principle of subsidiarity, provides for the obligation of institutions to favor active citizens.
Here an article signed by the Secretary General of Cittadinanzattiva in memory of prof. Cotturri. To know more, click here (all in IT language).
