During the World General Medicine Congress 2026 (WGMC2026), held virtually on March 23-24, 2026, Active Citizenship Network (ACN) brought the expertise of European civic activism to the center of the global scientific debate. The Director of ACN was invited by the Organizing Committee to serve as a featured speaker, presenting a keynote titled: Grassroots Mobilisation: Leveraging Civil Society and Community Leadership to Bridge Gaps in Vaccine Coverage”.

Key Highlights of the Presentation

The report emphasized that civil society organizations are not merely beneficiaries of health policies, but decisive actors in the success of immunization campaigns.

The presentation focused on:

  • The Power of Grassroots Mobilization: The critical role of community leadership in reaching "hard-to-reach" populations and overcoming vaccine hesitancy through local trust.
  • Bridging Coverage Gaps: Sharing results and best practices gathered through the European initiative #VaccinAction, now in its 5th edition, which continues to advocate for the value of routine vaccination across Europe.
  • Empowerment and Health Literacy: The importance of evidence-based information delivered by trusted local sources—such as patient associations and civic networks—to effectively counter misinformation.
