The Mission Board on Vaccination in Europe (MBVE) is a multi-disciplinary, multi-stakeholder thought leadership group established in 2023 under the chairmanship of Professor Walter Ricciardi. It has adopted a “mission approach” to the strengthening of immunisation systems across Europe.

MBVE is a pan-European collaboration, comprising multi-disciplinary academic experts, healthcare and public health professionals, civil society organisations (including Active Citizenship Network) and patient group representatives, as well as Vaccines Europe. Academics participating in the work include public health experts, vaccinologists, and health economists from Austria, Belgium, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Lithuania, The Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, and Spain.

The Director of Active Citizenship Network is Board Member of the Mission Board on Vaccination in Europe.

The main MBVE goal is to identify, promote & support the implementation of ambitious targets to strengthen Europe’s immunisation systems, with a particular focus on decision-making on vaccination policies and programmes.

The Mission Board on Vaccination in Europe, started in 2023, is enabled by financial support from Vaccines Europe.

During its first year of activity, the MBVE finalized at the end of 2023 Consensus Report containing recommendations for action at European & national level, while from 2024 to 2026 it is committed on 3-year implementation phase with flagship programmes. To know more, click here.
