Funded by the Horizon Europe programme, RESILIAGE (Advancing holistic understanding of community RESILIence and heritAGE drivers through community-based methodologies) is a three-year research and innovation project that aims to provide new knowledge and effective solutions to support the resilience of European communities affected by disasters and emergencies.
Since the beginning of the new millennium, over 1,200 disasters have hit Europe, affecting around 15 million people. The impact of these extreme events has been amplified by social inequalities and the current economic and political crises, which over the years have progressively reduced the ability to prevent and adequately address these events.
RESILIAGE aims to support a radical change in emergency management by adopting a holistic and systemic approach that integrates aspects of society such as cultural heritage, risk awareness, inclusion, socio-economic and geographical conditions, and by supporting the development of resilient communities through strengthening the skills of the authorities and developing digital tools tailored to citizens.
The RESILIAGE approach is based on the organisation of 5 Community Resilient Labs (CORE Labs) in Belgium, Norway, Greece, Portugal and Turkey, in which local communities - supported by the project partners - will actively participate in modelling behaviour, co-defining strategies and experimenting with the tools and solutions provided.
The role of Cittadinanzattiva
Through its Environment & Territory area, Cittadinanzattiva participates in the project by bringing the point of view of the citizen (especially the most vulnerable groups), supporting actions that integrate the participation of local communities for the definition of strategies and the experimentation of the developed tools. Cittadinanzattiva is particularly committed to strengthening the skills of local authorities and organisations involved in emergency management with regard to the involvement of local communities in risk preparedness and management activities. Cittadinanzattiva also contributes to the dissemination of the project and the valorisation of its results.
With this project, Cittadinanzattiva confirms its commitment to making human settlements more inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable, and its interest in activities aimed at achieving the objectives of the 2030 Agenda.
