Citizens, doctors, first responders (Firefighters, Police, Carabinieri, Red Cross, Civil Protection, etc.) united to test innovative tools of the NIGHTINGALE project for responding to mass casualty emergencies. It was a powerful demonstration of collaboration! Special thanks to the volunteers from Cittadinanzattiva APS-Active Citizenship Network for participating and trying out new applications to interact with 112 emergency number and to engage and empower the bystanders on the scene.

The role of citizens in disaster management is crucial. Ordinary people are not only directly impacted by these events but are often the first on the scene and, in many cases, those who have to rebuild their lives afterward. Citizens play a life-saving role during disasters. Trained or not, they make decisions, share local knowledge, and contribute resources. Therefore, mass casualty preparedness and management must also focus on engaging and preparing citizens. See more pictures here
