The ENGAGE project received funding from the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme.
ENGAGE addresses research and innovation on resilience as an organisation's intrinsic capacity to adjust its operations during adverse change events and actively support operations before, during and after disasters. The project aims to deliver solutions to support citizens, communities and authorities' engagement through an integrated approach, starting from the knowledge, skills and social capital existing at all societal levels. It connects the everyday resilience inherently part of citizens with the formal work done by authorities to prevent, prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters. As part of the ENGAGE project's research activities, Cittadinanzattiva played a crucial role in interviewing citizens from Aquila, in Abruzzo (Italy) who experienced the 2009 earthquake, aiming to contribute to the study by finding the best solutions to offer European societies to make their communities more prepared and therefore safer, for facing adverse change events.
