Director General of the Stroke Alliance for Europe (SAFE), and leads and oversees the delivery of all SAFE activity and projects. Arlene hasconsiderableexperience of alliance building, particularly in relation to policy development and implementation, and hasheld leadership positions in a number of healthfocusedorganisations over the past 20 years.In herroleat SAFE, Arlene also co-chairs the implementation committee of the Stroke Action Plan for Europe and is a board member of the World Stroke Organisation.

For the last two years she has been cooperating with Cittadinanzattiva Emilia Romagna as an expert of narrative medicine to carry out surveys and campaigns aimed at improving quality of life for people who have to face chronic diseases as patients or caregivers. Recently she concluded the civic survey “The right rhytm of the heart”.
