I come from Italy where a well-known and widely used popular saying states "we are all adults and vaccinated", meaning that we are all able to speak openly about "taboo" subjects, but also that we do not get easily deceived into believing what’s not true.
Being adults and being vaccinated, according to this old popular way of saying, were synonymous of being safe and protected. Instead, people currently run the risk of being misled by the running fake news on vaccination, and this is a paradox no longer acceptable.

The recent presentation at the European Parliament of the Spanish experience "Sine Dolore World Park", which took place on April 26th thanks to the support of the MEP Rosa Estaràs Ferragut and the collaboration of Active Citizenship Network, represents at the same time a point of arrival and a point of departure for the organizers of the Sine Dolore European Pain Foundation, in particular for “the deus ex machina” Prof. Jordi Moya, to whom the merit of having always believed in this initiative, even in spite of those who have hastily rejected it as: “very nice initiative, made in a beautiful place, but in a context that is too small that has no impact”.

Active Citizenship Network, the European branch of the Italian NGO Cittadinanzattiva, promotes the European Patients’ Rights Day as multi-stakeholder event since 2007, and as its Director, I am so honored to celebrate this relevant anniversary at the EU Parliament.
In line with the topic of healthcare systems’ sustainability, addressed in the previous conferences of the European Patients‘ Rights Day, the twelfth edition has contributed to the current policy debate on how to achieve a more sustainable provision of care.
The event organized last 28 of February by Active Citizenship Network at the European Parliament took place in a very favorable European context for vaccination: the European Commission on-going public consultation on strengthening the cooperation against vaccine preventable diseases and the motion for resolution on vaccine hesitancy in the European Parliament.
During 2017, the European Institutions, regulatory authorities, companies and the constituency of the energy sector has recognised Cittadinanzattiva Onlus as a main stakeholder in the field of energy at EU level.
This is the result of our hard work and multi annual engagement at national and EU level in a series of relevant initiatives on the topic carried out by the EU branch of Cittadinanzattiva, Active Citizenship Network.
Active Citizenship Network, promotes this multi-stakeholder event since 2007, and as its Director, I am so honored to have celebrated this relevant anniversary at the European Economic and Social Committee.
On this 10 of May 2017 there were with us leaders of civic and patient organisations and relevant stakeholders coming from at least 17 Countries, some of them outside the European Union, such us Albania, and others even from other continents, such us Canada. Moreover, there were representatives and leaders of 22 international and European networks, professionals and experts, public and private bodies and providers, public relation agencies and other relevant stakeholders.
Active Citizenship Network, in partnership with civic societies and patient organizations, is committed to strengthen the protection of patients’ rights in Europe. At the same time, we strongly believe that empowered patients and their organisations are a resource and not a cost: for this reason, we have been pleased to cooperate at national level in Cyprus with the Universal Patients' Rights Association in the framework of the EU project “Patients’ Voice”, supported by EuropeAid Programme of the European Commission.
The summer break has resulted in a prestigious award in the field of consumer policy for Cittadinanzattiva at national and European level, that is the election of its Director of European Affairs as a new full member of the European Consumer Consultative Group for the next three years.
Strengthening synergies and forge alliances among civil society actors can help to better understand the dynamics and prospects of the EU - now showing all its cracks - and of Europe in general. From this perspective, Active Citizenship Network is pleased to announce its new partnerships with two organizations located in Eastern Europe.
