CHRONIC PAIN, A PRIORITY AT EUROPEAN LEVEL
On 17th of November 2014, Active Citizenship Network (ACN) and Pain Alliance Europe (PAE) will be holding in Brussels a press conference to talk about a historical achievement for chronic pain patients in particular and for the European society at large as well: chronic pain is on the EU Agenda for the first time! The request for a coordinated response towards chronic pain at an EU policy level, that citizens and patients sent to the EU institutions and to their national ministries, has been heard.
Empowered patients are a resource! Celebrated today in Brussels the 8th European Patients’ Rights Day. The associations realized a “Civic reccomandations to improve the empowerment of citizens with chronic and rare diseased and their organizations”
“The role of civic organizations in the empowerment of patients with chronic diseases has been underestimated for too long. It is important that policy makers let organizations and patients actively partecipate in the management of chronic diseases. Not only to better their cure, but to cope with the caring, social, relational and psychological impacts of their disease”. These below the declarations of Antonio Gaudioso, secretary general of Cittadinanzattiva-Active Citizenship Network, the italian based organization that celebrated yesterday and today in Brussels the 8th European Patients’ Rights Day.

Cittadinanzattiva: nominated the new coordinators of the Tribunal for Patients' Rights and the European Active Citizenship Network
The National Directorate of Cittadinanzattiva, held the last Friday and Saturday, approved the appointment of two new coordinators network of Cittadinanzattiva in particular the Tribunal for Patients' Rights and Active Citizenship Network.

ROME—Patient involvement in European health care is critical for the success of health services in the EU.
The purpose of European Patients’ Rights Day is to increase involvement of patients in health care policymaking. Patient involvement is even more relevant for this year’s event, as 2013 is the European Year of Citizens, and 25 October 2013 is the deadline for each EU member state to implement the Directive on Patients’ Rights in Cross Border Health Care.

Launch of "Mobility" in 8 European countries, to promote a culture of sustainable transport respecting the rights of passengers
To involve European citizens, primarily the public transport users and commuters, to help bring their needs to the ambitious objectives that the European Commission has set for the coming years concerning the sustainable mobility.
With this in mind, the European project "Mobility, a paradigm for European citizenship" kicks off in 8 Countries (Bulgaria, Italy, Lithuania, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Spain).
Involving users in order to improve the mobility and transport services in Europe. Presented in Brussels the result of the project "Mobility, a paradigm of European citizenship"
It was held on 18th December in Brussels the final conference of the project " Mobility , a paradigm of European citizenship", realized thanks to the contribution of the European Commission.
Representatives from Patient Group, Civic Organisation and Industry enter into new collaborative project to improve the management of chronic pain in the EU
Brussels / Rome / Aachen, 20 November 2012. Pain Alliance Europe (PAE) representing chronic pain patients in Europe, Active Citizenship Network (ACN) and Grünenthal have entered into an official partnership on the development of European Pain Patient Pathways Recommendations. The projects will run until December 2014 and aims to create a greater awareness of chronic pain and to promote European policy-making for improved management of chronic pain.
