As independent advisorof the Adult Immunization Board (AIB), Active Citizenship Network has been invited to join the AIB technical meeting, which will be held April 20-21, 2023 in Antwerp, Belgium.
The purpose of the first AIB technical meeting is to identify and discuss the challenges and opportunities when assessing the health burden of vaccine-preventable infections (VPIs) in European adults. As advisory board member, Active Citizenship Network will also join the AIB advisor meeting on Wednesday, 19 April 2023 at University of Antwerp.
Also this year the “Associação Europeia de Saúde Educativa e Preventiva em Epigenética”, Portuguese partner of Active Citizenship Network, will lead the national celebration of the European Patients’ Rights Day. For the occasion, the event, titled “Oral health and gastrointestinal diseases in Europe: how to prevent?”, will be realized with the participation of the Portuguese Society of Health Literacy within the Coimbra Business School-ISCAC. Active Citizenship Network has been invited in the panel to talk about the topic in the context of Antimicrobial Resistance, and more in general to emphasize the value of this celebration from a citizen and patients’ perspective. Active Citizenship Network has been invited by the International Federation on Ageing (IFA) to the Webinar "Innovation and good practices to reduce inequity in adult vaccination" on March 30, 2023 14:00 CEST. The purpose of this webinar is to identify factors that contribute to adult immunization inequities, and discuss effective and innovative solutions to address existing barriers to ensure equitable access to adult vaccination. We will bring the the Italian experience of the Quality Charter of the Vaccination Services, as a result of a monitoring activity of the vaccination services, carried out at national level, in order to deepen the knowledge of the service and propose concrete improvements.

The webinar is part of a series of consultations to support the preparation of a Commission proposal for a Council Recommendation on vaccine-preventable cancers. The proposal aims to help EU Member States address vaccine-preventable cancers with a focus on increasing the uptake of vaccination against Human papillomaviruses (HPV) and Hepatitis B virus (HBV).

This activity – realized in the framework of two projects: “Improving health literacy for better public and patient involvement in mitigating COVID-19 pandemic using interactive and intuitive educational tools” & “Protecting the value of access to care during - and after - the COVID-19 pandemic across Europe: focus on antivirals is addressed to representatives of Patients Advocacy Groups (PAGs) & civic associations coming from the EU. It will allow to provide a common set of updated information, share information, identify lessons learned but also to obtain feedback from PAGs.
